Suppliers share footprints for what they sell. Their customers ask for them and use them in their own. Who can see it is the supplier's choice, and the only gate. Origin is shown at country level unless the supplier allows finer.

Asking for and using supplier data is in every package, Footprinting included. Organisations that receive supplier data but do not model start on Registry Free for one user and 25 pieces of supplier data, then the Registry online from £845 a year (1 user, 75 listings, up to 5 users and 1,000). On the Registry on its own, a Registry Home leads with what needs you; answers go on your purchased items, and you export what you hold.
Only Global Admins and LCA Experts ask, use and share; everyone else views.
A customer has asked for your footprint. Here is how it works.
- 1Your customer asked you from inside Sustained. The ask says what they need and who will see it.
- 2You decide who can see it, origin at country level or finer, and whether you can be contacted.
- 3Model your products once in Footprinting and share them with the customers you pick, or with everyone; export CSV or JSON for anyone else. Each listing states its allocation, by mass, and the rules behind its figures.
- 4Reminders 60 and 14 days before your figures expire. Recalculate and the customers using them see Update available, to apply when they choose; withdraw and they stop being shared immediately.

Ask
A buyer asks a supplier about the items it buys, or emails a supplier who is not yet on Sustained. Routed in-app when the recipient is already a customer, without disclosing that they are.
Answer and share, with consent
From a workspace, checked against what was asked before anything is shared, on a free form, or via a partner. A footprint already calculated with the data keeps it. Withdrawn data cannot be used again.
Use
Usable in your reported footprints when the company is your supplier: an answered ask, a share, a confirmed customer, or you set them as your supplier. Otherwise try it in a draft or change model. The supplier is asked once; if they answer Not our customer, their figures stay out of your reports.
Update
Validity capped at 24 months from the calculation date. Supplier reminders, Update available on the buyer's row, applied only when they choose Apply update, and a withdrawal that blocks new use while disclosing itself on recalculation.

Country is the floor
Origin is disclosed at country level unless the supplier opts for finer, or shares their contact.
No directory
Data is shared only with companies the supplier has a real relationship with: an ask, a share, an accepted contact, a confirmed customer or a share code. Nothing to enumerate.
The relationship decides
Figures count in your reported footprints when the company is your supplier: it answered your ask, shared with you, or confirmed you, or you set it as your supplier. Decided once for the company, not per footprint. The supplier can confirm you or say Not our customer.
Comparability kept honest
Every shared footprint carries a methodology descriptor, and a footprint calculated in Sustained declares allocation by mass and the rules behind its figures; rankings stay within one comparability class; externally computed data is quarantined from cross-method comparison.
Withdrawal honours history
Withdrawn data stops being shared immediately and blocks new use, while a recalculation of something it was already in proceeds and discloses the withdrawal.
Everything audited
Every significant action lands in an append-only audit log, including the delegating partner on any write made on a supplier's behalf.
Consultancies and data providers can publish on behalf of clients through the partner ingestion API, under a per-partner role, rotatable keys and a contractual assurance cap. Ask about partner access.
