How Does the Sustained Registry Work?

What the Registry is, where to find it on your plan, and what production-valid and exploratory mean for the supplier data you take.

Included in every plan, including Registry Free

The Sustained Registry is where suppliers share impact data for what they sell, and where their customers ask for it, find it and use it. A supplier decides who can see each listing and whether it can be used in models, and nothing is shared beyond that.

You can use the Registry to:

Where it is on your plan

Open Registry in the left rail. What it holds depends on your plan:

  • Footprinting, Action & Mitigation and Risk & Analytics: Inbox and Publish. The listings your suppliers have given you live on Supply chain > Raw materials, under the Supplier listings tabs.
  • Registry (including Registry Free) and Recipe & Menu Design: Inbox, Purchased raw materials and Suppliers. Recipe & Menu Design also has Supplier listings. See Purchased raw materials and suppliers on the Registry plan.

How the registry works, in the Help menu, sets out the same ideas inside the app. Assurance users do not see the Registry.

Production-valid and exploratory

Using a supplier's figure in a footprint you report needs a relationship with that supplier: they shared the listing with you, answered your request, or confirmed you as a customer. Data from a supplier you have a relationship with is production-valid, usable in any footprint.

Data taken from a supplier you have no relationship with is exploratory: usable in change models and products in development, not in production footprints. Confirm relationship on the listing asks the supplier to confirm you; once they do, it becomes production-valid. The stamp is given once and nothing downgrades it later, though a listing the supplier withdraws stops being usable in production.

Categories

Listings carry a category: Food & beverage, Packaging, Electronics & IT, Furniture & fixtures, Household & cleaning, Textiles & apparel, Chemicals, Construction materials, Energy, Transport & logistics or Other, and there are listings for materials too. Only food and packaging can be used in models. Anything else is Registry only: you can view it, keep it and download it as a record of what you buy.

Categories beyond food, beverage and packaging come with the Registry plan, and can be added to the other plans.

Registry Free

Registry Free is one user and up to 25 listings received, with nothing to pay. A listing counts as received when you accept it, keep it, take it into a model or download it. Settings > Company > Subscription shows what you have used, and how to upgrade when you need more.
