Figures on the Registry calculated in Sustained, or by an approved registry partner, carry a stamp saying who calculated them, from what and when: Calculated on Sustained (a core registry partner) or Calculated by the partner (an approved registry partner).
Downloading the statement
The stamp offers Download the footprint statement (PDF): a document you can file, forward or attach to your own claim. It holds the figures, the method and datasets behind them, a statement reference, a verify link and its QR code.
The Registry keeps a record of every statement it issues, so an edited or forged copy does not match. A statement is a copy of the figures on the day it was issued; the Registry holds the current figures.
Checking a statement
Anyone can open a statement's verify link, or scan its QR code, to Verify a footprint statement on registry.sustained.com. No account is needed. The page says whether it is:
- Genuine statement: its figures are still the current ones.
- Genuine statement, since superseded: the publisher's figures have changed since it was issued.
- Genuine statement, listing withdrawn: the publisher has since withdrawn the figures.
Under Check your copy against this record it lists what the Registry issued, such as the product, the publisher, who calculated it and when, its validity, assurance and method, and the statement reference.
Getting the current figures
Get the current figures in Sustained asks the publisher to share their current figures with you. You sign in first, or create an account if you are new to Sustained. If the figures are already shared with you, you are taken to them, and if your organisation has already asked, you are told so. A publisher that does not take requests through the Registry has to be contacted directly.
On a product report
A product's report PDF, downloaded on the PEF lens, has a second page: its footprint statement. When the product is on the Registry, that page carries the verify link and QR code, so a report you send on can be checked the same way. See How do I share my data on the Registry?
